Sony Ericsson’s Satio is available for sale again, after the short period when the sales were halted because of the bugs discovered in the first version of its software. Many users returned their phones to the stores complaining about the numerous glitches of the software, and the poor speed of the phone.

Apart from the 12.1MP camera, which some say it’s excellent, this smartphone failed in delivering the services everyone expected so Sony Ericsson investigated and noticed that the handheld was no good and removed it from the store shelves. Anyway the Sony Ericsson Satio is available for sale again with an updated software which seems to solve the problems it had in the previous version.

Apparently, the handheld is a little bit faster now but still light-years away from being a strong rival of the iPhone 3GS despite Satio’s manufacturer announcing before launch that “it can be better than the iPhone.”

The Nokia X6 sports a 3.2-inch touchscreen with an accelerometer for display rotation, 32GB of internal memory without any slot for memory expansion, 433.9MHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and dual-LED flash, Bluetooth 2.0, A-GPS, WiFi, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Symbian S60 5th Edition with the OSS Web Browser with Flash Lite 3, direct access to Ovi Store and Ovi Maps.

The X6 uses a 1320 mAh battery which allows you to have 5 hours of 3G talk time or 35 hours of music playback. The Nokia X6 will come with three games: Gameloft’s Asphalt4, EA’s Spore and DJ Mix Tour. The smartphone comes with a music service that allows you to download music from various libraries for free, as the Nokia CEO sais.

The Nokia X6 will hit the market in the fourth quarter of 2009 and it will cost €450 before taxes and subsidies.

According to a report, all Palm smartphones have been delayed to the end of the year. This rumor comes from China as it is said that Compal expects new solutions for the chipsets that Qualcomm is developing; solutions that will dramatically improve the performance of the smartphones. Also, Motorola has cut off its smartphone orders, has delayed the Alexander handset, and the company has limited the markets where the A3100 is sold.

“Compal Communications will be forced to postpone its shipments of smartphones to Palm from mid-year to the end of the year. Palm’s two smartphones will be delayed as Compal is waiting for Qualcomm’s new chipset solutions that will enable better performance.”

However, we have our doubts as the Palm Pre has been confirmed a few days ago, and this smartphone uses TI OMAP chipset, not Compal. Although Motorola uses Compal processors for A3100 and Alexander, it is not the case of the Pre and we’re pretty sure that the smartphone will be available as of this summer.

For the moment we are waiting for an official statement from Palm to deny the rumor about Pre, and to confirm (or deny) the rumor regarding other Palm smartphones.

Apple has just released version 3.0 for the iPhone OS and it brings a lot of improvements and new features, but is not quite as we expected. It comes with Copy and Paste, Search in Calendar, Gmail, iPod, 3G Tethering, Landscape Keyboard, Multimedia Messaging, support for new calendar types, improved stock application, stereo bluetooth A2DP audio, note syncing with iTunes, automatic login in Safari, shake to shuffle music, WiFi auto login, anti-phising, extended parental controls, voice memo application, send and receive files, peer-to-peer WiFi compatibility, and much more.

It looks nice and is a real improvement, but it could be much better. Anyway I’m glad Apple heard our wished and fulfilled some of them.

Apple definitely needs to manufacture a smartphone. Before you storm out and remind me of iPhone or iPhone 3G, let me remind you the fact that these things can’t even copy/paste something like a phone number. I’m not trolling when I say that the next-gen iPhone should come with lots of new features as now the competition is harder and with Steve Jobs gone, it’s very likely that Apple will lose some of its notoriety and that is really bad for business.

So, now those guys from Apple are working on a smartphone even if they deny it. Why would they admit it? Then the “aforementioned” competition will steal their ideas and outrun the iPhone as the best-selling phone in the US market. Finally, they will add the long-expected copy/paste feature to the new smartphone, and let’s not forget about video recording capabilities which definitely requires a better camera. This is another big problem for iPhone users – the camera is just crappy as there is no Xenon Flash, no Auto-focus, and no megapixels if you allow me to say this.

Why would the iPhone need a better camera? Nowadays people are spending their time on social media websites therefore they need to share their photos on Flickr, Facebook, or Twitter. It’s very simple – we love social media and we want to share stuff like pictures or videos. Another feature that is absolutely necessary is Adobe Flash Player support which is #2 on my wish-list after copy/paste. I’m pretty sure that this feature will be available mainly because Apple announced that Adobe Flash support is coming this year so they wouldn’t lie to us.

Let’s move to the next important feature – the battery. Oh God that really sucks! I don’t know what would they thinking when designed the phone, but the iPhone needs a removable battery with a larger capacity. Maybe they could add some solar cells on it for extra-power, but that would mean a ridiculously expensive phone and we wouldn’t want that even if it saves the world. Another perfect addition would be turn-by-turn GPS, although Google Maps is a perfect substitute, I just happen to like that one better.

Something that Apple has ignored so far is multitasking. I don’t really know why, but it would be very useful. Just kidding here as I would love to chat with my friends via IM, read a story on my favorite website, and to listen to music in the same time. Apple said that the iPhone will not crash if it runs only one application, but I want to have more fun using the phone and I just want multitasking!

A few weeks ago I heard that Apple will introduce Bluetooth A2DP, but I’m not a fan as Bluetooth headphones are very expensive. However, I would really love to see Bluetooth data transfer there, but Apple says “No!” as everything must go through iTunes therefore we’re not going to see anything like this on the next-gen iPhone.

Many people complained about the fact that the iPhone doesn’t have MMS capability. Again, another simple-to-add feature, but Apple said “No!” twice. Why? I never knew what MMS is all about as I’ve never used it. I don’t need it, but I know many users do – I’m just saying that if you would like to share a picture with someone, just upload it on Flickr, Twitter, etc. The problem is that not everybody has a phone with Internet capabilities, or if they do, maybe they don’t have a data plan. OK, Apple just bring MMS to the masses!

Moving on, I never understood why the iPhone doesn’t feature a landscape horizontal keyboard for texting as it’s useless in Safari. Really Apple, what were you thinking? This could happen with a simple software upgrade as I’m sure that many iPhone users requested it and Apple should consider a horizontal keyboard for SMS/Email.

The iPhone would need a hardware upgrade including more RAM and a faster processor. This could be useful if Apple adds multitasking to the smartphone, and I think that 256MB would be decent and it could run many applications. The last thing on the list could be 4G speed, but I’m just dreaming as this will happen in three to four years.

Most of these will happen, but this would mean that the iPhone will become more expensive and during this recession, we wouldn’t want a pricey phone as we don’t have money for it. First, I think that Apple should consider a software upgrade, and then think about the hardware part. The design is cool as it is now, and they shouldn’t concentrate too much on it. Apple will probably launch the next-gen iPhone sometime Christmas, or in early-2010, but that doesn’t matter – everybody wants a close-to-perfection smartphone and the iPhone could probably be that one!

I’m sure that there are many other features that should be added so you don’t you tell us what would you like to have on your iPhone!

Apparently, you can run two OS on the same phone thanks to the MVP hypervisor developed by VMWare. In the video you can see a Nokia N800 running both Windows CE and Android thanks to the MVP hypervisor which is a virtual machine that is supposed to run underneath a cellphone’s OS. The MVP hypervisor is as small as 20KB and it creates a platform on each device that it’s installed on which allows the OSes to be installed like applications.

Even cooler is that the MVP hypervisor will not create incompatibility issues with the drivers, therefore it can run multiple OSes on a device at the same time. Although Windows CE is not entirely an OS, and Nokia N800 isn’t entirely a cellphone, you can notice in the video above that the MVP was specially designed for smartphones.

According to VMWare, this virtual machine could be introduced in mobile phones pretty soon as they are already in talks with multiple manufacturers. However, I’m not really sure that the MVP hypervisor will be included in cellphones as a phone manufacturers are not likely to pay the license of this technology. I guess it remains to see what happens, meanwhile check out the video above.

When a good product appears on the market, a crappy clone pop-up and makes us laugh so hard that we burst into tears. After the HiPhone, SciPhone, various CECT phone and their “updates”, here is another one – the GiPhone F5. Who cares that it has the name of an “ancient” aircraft? Apparently nobody. It seems like the GiPhone supports finger swipe, 3G, it comes with a 3.2-inch multi-touchscreen, 16GB of flash memory, lots of games, and it also comes in white flavor.

We don’t know other details, specs or whatever. We don’t know if it’s available or if it will ever be available. We don’t know its pricing. In the end, I think it would be better to remain unknown. In order to make your lives more entertaining, check out the video below of the GiPhone F5.

All I know about the Sprint Treo Pro is that this cellphone has been delayed so many times that I thought it would never hit the store shelves. However, I was proven wrong and the Palm Pro showed up on BestBuy for an amazing price of $249 with a two-year plan. Although the off-contract costs $699, I think that this is a little too much to ask for a cellphone like this. Well, this doesn’t matter as next month we will get our hands on the HTC-built phone, however, why is it called Palm Pro? Why not Sprint Treo Pro? Or Treo Pro? Geez, I don’t really understand anything, but HTC Treo Pro would sound better. Hmm, let’s just wait until next month and hopefully somebody will clear this story for us.
